Just days before our certification hearing we heard that DONE would no longer allow our long-standing boundaries proposal to include the Tujunga Wash area, including the new Canyon Trails Golf Course.

The Foothill Trails District Neighborhood Council (FTDNC) and STNC made an agreement to share this area over a year ago. Such sharing is allowed under the Plan for areas of public use. However, DONE/BONC* chose to interpret "public use" to mean publicly owned only. They view privately owned areas open to public use, such as the golf course and areas of the Tujunga Wash, as not qualifying for overlapping boundaries. This clearly presents a real issue for our community.

We will be working with FTDNC, Board of Neighborhood Commissioners (BONC) and Councilmember Wendy Greuel's office to address this in the days ahead. We will be sending regular updates on this issue to our mass e-mail list. If you are not currently on this list, please e-mail egwaters@yahoo.com and request to be added.
